The New Imaginists are an elusive, idiosyncratic bunch. All are imagined to be talented artists and craftspeople in their previous artistic and academic fields. However, a major philosophical shift in their basic beliefs regarding artistic integrity has led them to actively and directly disassociate themselves from their past work.
“I eschew the very notion of a personal biography... all it succeeds in doing is tinting
the glasses worn by the observer when looking at my art a color which I never would
have suspected or intended. This is one of the reasons that I wanted to pursue an
artistic form which did not require the audience to wear glasses at all – regardless of their proficiency seeing.”

To this end, all five imaginary artists who are participating in the New Imaginist launch movement have taken pseudonyms for themselves. It is their hope and intention that this anonymity will aid the art-going communities to better understand and appreciate their work.
